Add a day in Stockholm

Stockholm is just a train ride away. Why not end your holiday with a day or two in the capital of Sweden? Stockholm is an unusually beautiful city. Built on 14 islands, the city rises gracefully from water so clean that you can go swimming or fishing right in the centre. The history of Stockholm dates back to the 13th century and the best place to discover it is off course in Old Town, on a little island right in the heart of the city. A visit here is more like an idyllic walk through history than the sightseeing frenzy you can find in many other large cities.

Djurgården is a large island a 10 minute ferry ride away from Old Town. In spite of its central position, the island is a national park where you find forests and untouched nature. On the southern side of the island you can find a number of great visitor spots. Go to the Vasa Museum where you’ll find a restored royal ship that has spent 333 years on the bottom of the sea, or Skansen - the oldest open-air museum in the world and a zoological park where you’ll find moose, bears and wolves.
Stockholm has a lot to offer and everything worth seeing in a day or two is within walking distance, or you can off course go by ferry. But the peculiarity of Stockholm is that you don’t go from one attraction to the next, the whole place is the attraction!
